Lifespan of Makeup

I am in the process of moving to a new apartment next weekend. I'm taking this opportunity to clean out my makeup and skincare. Have you ever wondered how long you should keep that old blush or lipstick? Here is a quick overview of about how long you should hold on to your makeup!

Foundation and Concealer: 18 months
You should keep your foundation and concealers for about 18 months before purchasing new product. If you purchase oil-free formulas they might dry out a little faster.

Eyeshadow: 1-2 years
I never seem to finish my eyeshadows. They are endless pots! If you're using a liquid or cream eyeshadow, please throw away after 1 year. If you're using powder, they are good for 2 years!

Eyeliners and pencils: 2 years
Keep these up to 2 years! Keep clean sharpeners!

Mascara: 3 months
If you're like me and you don't like to leave the house without mascara then you're pretty much applying it every single day. In that case, if it hasn't already dried out by 3 months time, it's time to toss the mascara at that time. Your eyes are very sensitive and bacteria can transfer from the mascara wand to your eyes since you apply it so closely to the lash line.

Blush and Powder: 1-2 years
Again, if you're using a cream formula they are good for 1 year, but if you're using a powder formula, you can use them up to 2 years!

Lipstick: 2 years
I have so many lipsticks. Good thing these last up until 2 years!

And remember to always wash your hands and clean your brushes and makeup tools frequently to help maintain the lifespan of your makeup!

Have a great weekend everyone!
