Kiehl's Creme de Corps

My go-to lotion for winter is the Kiehl's Creme de Corps. I may get by in the summer without having to putting on lotion, but in the winter my arms and leg need A LOT of moisture. Often times in the morning when I wake up my legs feel tight or itchy because they're so dry and as soon as I put on this lotion they feel so soft and moisturized. I love the Creme de Corps because it's rich but it absorbs into your skin quickly so it doesn't leave your skin sticky feeling.

It comes in a lot of different sizes and some come with a handy pump for easy application. They also come in tiny little sizes that you can keep in your bag. Some featured ingredients are: Beta-Carotene, Cocoa Butter, Sesame Oil and Squalane which is a botanical lipid similar to the molecular structure in our own natural skin lipids. Squalane helps restore skin’s natural moisture balance.

Have you tried Kiehl's Creme de Corps?

Winter Lip Saviours

My lips have been cracking so easily lately. This has really gotten me to round up all my favorite moisturizing lip saviors and to keep one on hand at all times.

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream $20
As a cult favorite, I think this is great multi-purpose cream for dry lips, dry skin patches, dry cuticles and even putting on any wounds. Also, it's fantastic price for value. I don't think you'll ever run out. It's got kind of a strange scent but I think there's an unscented version you can get if it really bothers you. I like leaving this by the bathroom sink and just applying it before bed. It's a real thick petroleum like cream that coats your dry lips and leaves you waking up with super soft lips.

Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips $14.50
This is a more recent discovery for me but I've already become obsessed. This comes in a pretty small size so it's great to carry around in your jacket pocket for the winter or in your hand bag. It's similiar to the 8 Hour Cream but a little more firm and not as goopy. There is absolutely no scent and I love the way it makes my lips slightly sticky. Some people find this too thick as well but I love it.

Vaseline $4.49
Good old reliable vaseline! I also leave this by my bathroom sink and reach for this for chapped lips, coating my eyebrows and eyelashes because they need to be hydrated as well! This is just a classic product that I think everyone should own.

Kiehls Lip Balm #1 $7
This is similar to Dr. Lipp but not as firm. Another great soothing lip balm that really works for chapped or cracked lips. I think you've found a pattern in what kind of lip balms I like - they are all quite similar in consistency. This one contains SPF 4 and what's great about the Kiehls lip balms are they come in a variety of different scents (mint, cranberry, mango) and there's also a SPF 15 one.

Hope you guys are staying hydrating! New York just got REALLY cold.

Goodnight Skin

Here are the skincare products I have been using every night. First I have been taking off all my makeup with Bioderma Crealine TS H20. I just did a blogpost if you want to know more about the product: here. After that I wash my face with the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser. When I purchased this online I was hoping this would be more foamy but it's not really. It's very gentle and pretty scent-less. I enjoy using it but I think I want something a little more refreshing feeling (like when I used to use the Jurlique Purely Bright cleanser). I pat my face down with a towel and apply eye cream next. Currently I'm trying to finish up an Origins GinZing eye cream that I have been using. It's a little shimmery for my taste but overall it's a nice eye cream.

Next I apply a thin layer of the dr. brandy glow ruby crystal retinol hydracreme. I really like retinol creams for the PM. They will really help your skin in the long run. I have been using different brands for the past 2 years and I really have seen an improvement overall on the texture of my skin. I can see my old scars (slowly slowly) fading but I know it is working. I also like to add a thin layer of the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo on my t-zone and a little on my cheeks where I have acne scars. And finally to finish it off I apply the Aesop Camilla Nut Facial Hydrating cream all over my face and down on my neck. And then it's time to hit the bed!

Empties #1

My first Empties post! I love when other bloggers do empties posts so I thought I'd share my first one. Empties are products I have finished using up. I will review each product and let you know if I would repurchase or recommend them. It's seriously so satisfying when you finish a product!

1. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo
Sort of one of my fav products ever. Yes I have already repurchased this and will continue to do so. For a complete review on this awesomeness, read my review here.

2. Neutrogena Triple Moisture Silk Touch Leave-in Cream
This was actually the second time I had purchased this item but I don't think I will in the future. It does make my hair feel softer but over time I seemed to have notice it less and less. I was happy I finished my second bottle but I'm more excited now to use my other products.

3. Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle
I've raved about this before. I use this twice a week in the shower and for $3 its pretty darn good. Amazing value for money. I've already repurchased it and would recommend anyone to just give it a go.

4. Philosophy the Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash
I purchased this almost 2 years ago (that's how long it's lasted me!) because I felt like whenever I went to get a facial, they all told me to exfoliate more. So, I bought this everyday exfoliating wash that's gentle enough for every day use. The beads are super tiny and I definitely enjoyed using this. I often paired it with my Clarisonic. Although I did enjoy this wash, I think after 2 years I'm ready to move on to something new.

5. Kiehl's Rare Earth Pore Minimizing Lotion
I really loved this moisturizer and I think after I have finished all my current ones, I could possibly repurchase it. It's super lightweight and blends really well into the skin. Not good for winter when your skin is super dehyrated but ideal for the summertime.

Thanks for reading!

Review: Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate

As one of kiehl's top ten products, the kiehl's midnight recovery concentrate has quite a reputation. i purchased this about a year ago and i have been using it a couple times a week at night. i used it more frequently during the winter months and now i've decided to only use it about once a week at night.

it's a lightweight overnight repair treatment. i love anything that works on your skin while you sleep so i was very curious to see immediate results. unfortunately i think it took quite a long time for me to notice any results. at first i even was disappointed because i thought it was breaking me out, but now a year later, i definitely notice that in the morning when i look in the mirror, my skin looks extremely hydrated and feels very soft. i usually only use 2 drops and i like to smooth and then pat it into my face and neck.   after it settles into your skin it doesn't really feel oily at all. i still tend to stay away from putting too much on my forehead in case it is too heavy and will cause any blemishes. and when i use this product, i don't use my normal moisturizer otherwise it would be too much.

i also hear it helps reduce fine lines and smooth wrinkles but that review will be for another day (maybe in  twenty years).

overall i think it's a great face oil to try out if you're interested in getting into oils. it's a good value for the money because it lasts a very long time. i've already had it for a year and it's going strong!

bite size skincare

I am going away this friday for the weekend. Travelling is super awesome because it means I can use my sample size products! Above are all the skincare products I'm planning to bring for the trip. And besides the Caudalie beauty elixir, everything has either been a sample from a Sephora order or some sort of gift with purchase! This looks like quite a lot of products to bring but I always end up not bringing enough products and feeling bad for my skin so this time I'm prepared.

Origins GinZing eye cream
Dr. Brandt glow - ruby crystal retinol hydracreme
Kiehl's Lip Balm #1
Olay shine minimizing cleanser
Ojon damage reverse
Caudalie Beauty Elixir
Clinique Even Better Skin tone correcting lotion
Lancome Bi-Facil eye makeup remover
Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Gel

(makeup bag pictured was a gift from a friend from the alexa chung for madewell collection)

eye creams

kiehls clinique mario badescu eye cream
Eye creams are so so so important.

Here are 3 eye creams that I have been using this past year. I just finished the Kiehl's Creamy eye treatment and it was the least favorite among the bunch. It's not as smooth and is hard to pat into your eye area. I think I read somewhere it's because it won't accidentally rub into your eye but for me it just feels bad. Also, it leaves a sheen across the surface under your eyes and therefore I only used this at night as I felt it left a slight sticky and shiny appearance. During the day I have been using the Clinique All about eyes rich (second or third time repurchased) because it lays a nice base for my under eye concealer. It's a nice basic eye cream that feels thick and is super easy to apply. Lastly, I now use the Mario Badescu eye cream at night and so far it's been really good. It's a similiar color to the Kiehl's eye treatment but it's a lot smoother and I like the way it feels when applied (and such a great price!) I read about it on Into The Gloss and I think I will be repurchasing it from now on because it's nice and affordable!
